EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it is able to be adapted to suit a variety of applications. The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows for the optimal placement of battery packs and a lower center of gravity, which results in higher payload to range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4 with a single wall structure inside and higher insulation than traditional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and a world-class payload-to-range ratio for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will allow fleets to make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We were able to test drive the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours and found it easy to drive, and comfortable to drive for long distances. The ride is smooth on bumps and ruts, while the EV9 is a master of suppressing wind and road noise on the highway. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by releasing the accelerator.
The EV9 has a great range and can be fully recharged within three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two operating modes including eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on the torque and cruise control while the sport mode maximizes speed and handling. Both modes are enjoyable to drive, and offer an unforgettable experience for those who have never experienced driving an electric vehicle before.
In green power to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify schools across the nation, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This means that they are eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Check back when we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later this year. We will be sharing more details about this revolutionary electric vehicle.
